| Summer study abroad in Australia and New Zealand is different from other summer programs in the rest of the world. Because of the opposite seasons “down under,” the North American summer falls in the middle of the academic year in these countries, and there are no classes available at the universities for only this time period. Therefore, AustraLearn has organized short-term programs in both countries at the times suited to North Americans even though the universities are still in session. Along the same lines, the typical North American winter break, running into January, falls in the summer season "down under," and AustraLearn has organized short-term programs (J-term) for North American students looking to get a sunny little break from the cold winter at home.
