| Universities in Australia, New Zealand, and the South Pacific offer the same degree programs as your university in the U.S. or Canada. This makes it easy for you to take classes in your major that will transfer back to your school to be counted as credits towards your graduation. In order to help you get the most from your AustraLearn study abroad experience, we require your home university to pre-approve the classes you wish to take while abroad. The Process Your first step is to apply to the AustraLearn program. Upon receipt of your application materials, AustraLearn will notify you of general program acceptance. You will then need to choose subjects, from information provided by the AustraLearn office, for submission to the overseas university faculty. As an overseas student, you may choose subjects covering a wide range of courses while you study overseas in order to ensure transferable credit to your home university. AustraLearn will also provide you with the necessary paperwork and catalogs for your academic and/or Study Abroad advisor to determine the credit transfer options for your time abroad. AustraLearn can work with all U.S./Canadian colleges and universities. Some subjects may require prerequisites before enrollment is granted. Final enrollments are completed from the approved list of subjects either online or upon arrival at the campus. However, as a directly enrolled student in Australia, we cannot guarantee the availability or your admittance to any subject. Scheduling Timetables at most universities are not published until just before the semester begins. Therefore, you usually will not actually enroll in your subjects until after you arrive on campus. The majority of classes do not have quotas, so you shouldn't have to worry about space filling up. You will choose your classes from your list of subjects approved by both the host university and your home university, according to how they fit into your schedule. If you choose to enroll in any subjects that were not pre-approved by your home university, you should contact your academic advisor from abroad in order to obtain the necessary approval. |
