The coup certainly highlighted the diversity of culture of this geographically small country. The Fijian and Indo-Fijian populations have a long history of political challenges, but they maintain consistently peaceful and non-violent. The current government in Fiji is still in transition, but life for those outside of the government, including the university and tourist areas, continues as normal. The AustraLearn program at the USP in Fiji is currently running, and we are continuing to accept applications for future semesters. We will continue to monitor the political climate of Fiji , and as always, AustraLearn would never run a program to a destination deemed unsafe by the U.S. state department. |
