Overview

Established in 1874 the University of Adelaide is the third oldest university in Australia and is a member of the Group of 8 – Australia’s leading research institutions. UA is proud to have over 4000 international students from more than 90 countries. The combination of UA's full-time equivalent academic staff, and advanced high-quality teaching and research makes UA one of Australia's best universities.

UA is located in the popular destination of Adelaide. Founded in 1836, Adelaide has a population of 1.3 million and is the center of the economic, cultural, political and social life of the state. It is an attractive well-planned city of wide streets and boulevards, squares, parklands and a mixture of historic and modern buildings. Adelaide's climate is Mediterranean, with warm, dry summers and cool winters. There are ample recreation activities including cinemas and theatres, music, shopping, swimming, sailing and windsurfing at nearby beaches, and hiking and exploring the towns, villages and wineries in the Mont Lofty Ranges adjacent to the city.

The University of Adelaide was ranked 105 in the world by the 2006 Times Higher Education Supplement.

• The 2005 Nobel Laureate for Medicine, Dr. J. Robin Warren, is a University of Adelaide graduate (Medicine).
• The University of Adelaide was ranked in the top 40 universities in the Asia-Pacific region by Shanghai Jiao Tong University Rankings 2006.
• The University of Adelaide was awarded the highest rating (five stars) for staff-student ratio in the 2007 Australian Good Universities Guide.
• The University of Adelaide's two MBA programs were awarded a maximum five-star rating by the Graduate Management Association of Australia
• JM Coetzee, who won the Nobel Prize for Literature in 2003, is an Honorary Visiting Research Fellow at the University of Adelaide.

Academic Highlights

University of Adelaide offers programs through five faculties; Engineering, Computer and Mathematical Sciences, Health Sciences, Humanities and Social Sciences, Professions and Sciences. The Faculty of the Professions encompasses the School of Architecture, Landscape Architecture and Urban Design, School of Education, Law School, Adelaide Graduate School of Business, School of Commerce and School of Economics.

The University of Adelaide has significant national alliances through its participation in 17 Cooperative Research Centres (CRCs), national research centres such as the Australian Centre for Plant Functional Genomics (ACPFG) and the Australian Stem Cell Centre (ASCC), the ARC Special Research Centre for the Molecular Genetics of Development and for the Subatomic Structure of Matter, and research collaborations with the publicly funded research agencies, Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organization (CSIRO), and the Defence Science and Technology Organisation (DSTO).

BIO:
Jodi and Michelle work in tandem in degree student services, managing student admissions and pre-departure processes to all Australian and New Zealand universities.

AustraLearn’s degree student services provides assistance and advice on accepting offers, banking and financing an overseas education, the visa application process, as well as , travel and housing arrangements.

Jodi earned her B.S. in mass communication at the University of Evansville in Indiana. She studied a semester abroad at the University of South Australia and has also been an exchange student to Germany. She has traveled through western Europe, volunteered in Guatemala, and has extensively backpacked Australia and New Zealand.

Michelle holds a B.S. in International Business from the University of Colorado at Denver. She worked in London for 6 months and has traveled extensively throughout the United States, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Europe, Australia, Mexico, and Canada.
